There are outfits you buy just for a vacation, and then there are clothes that straddle the line between work and play. A.L.C. is oriented around making a wardrobe for modern women, one that is not fussy—never fussy!—but still feels special enough that you can bring it along on a trip to Colombia.
Andrea Lieberman took inspiration from her own trip to Colombia for pre-fall, which shows in the sun-bleached colors and festive, multicolor stripes. While many of the clothes in the collection—like the crochet blue shorts and the fringe-trimmed skirt—are geared toward occasions, just as many would work if you’re merely dreaming about a South American getaway from your office. “I was very excited by the concept of clean modern separates. The perfect pieces that you really want to have in your suitcase, but that can also lead you into fall,” Lieberman said. Many of these garments are made with linen, either pure or in a blend, which gives them that lightness you want for summer.
On the more formal end of the spectrum there were the aforementioned fringe skirts in midi and mini lengths, strapless tops with cinched waists, and a terracotta dress with a plunging neckline—dressier compared to the rest of the collection, yet still easy. The classic linen button-downs and crochet polo dresses were just as appealing, but a high water mark was the white linen shirt paired with a floor-skimming column skirt—it doesn’t get cleaner than that.
